The Retroscope: 30 March
30 March 1985: Phil Collins started his two week run at #1 on the US singles chart with “One More Night”, his second US #1, it made #4 in the UK. “One More Night” was the first single in America and second in the UK from his third album, “No Jacket Required”. It was his first number one hit on the adult contemporary chart as well. Maroon 5 produced a hit with the same unrelated title and the two songs became a rare pair of songs with the same title to both hit number one. Sadly this pop master stroke became a popular track destined for a poor delivery in karaoke bars though!
