The Romance of the Machine

Kraftwerk directly influenced a range of eighties acts and although formed in the early seventies contributed to the futurist movement in the new decade.  This revolutionary tale would not be complete without mentioning the inspiration of El Lissitsky.  This Russian propagandist forged Kraftwerk's concept of juxtaposing art and the modern world of high technology.  The machine was consequently romanticized as man, or regime, could be transformed by indusrialization - and yes, a synthesizer is nothing more than a machine.  I'm left asking myself whether that revolution in pop culture ended with the fall of the Wall at the advent of the 90's...
