After the suicide of Ian Curtis, the remaining members of Joy Division regrouped to form the paradoxical New Order. These disciples of doom subsequently moved in a new direction embracing a pop sensibility that electronic music could only produce. "Blue Monday" became the biggest selling 12" single of all time with over a million sales worldwide. With the introduction of non-linear computer composition techniques, this single continues to be a tour de force anywhere at a New Year's Eve party.
