The Retroscope: 16 December
1989: Jive Bunny and The Mastermixers had their third and final UK#1 single with “Let’s Party”. The success of the first three singles equaled the record set by Gerry and The Pacemakers in 1963 and Frankie Goes to Hollywood in 1984. All three songs used sampling and synthesizers to combine pop music from the early rock and roll together into a seemingly cohesive medley.
