“Leaving Me Now” by Level 42 is simply surreal pop

“Leaving Me Now” was a single taken from their sixth studio album “World Machine”. The track was yet another example of near perfect pop in a decade, compared to today’s standards, the definite epitome of pop history. Level 42 had successfully exploited the jazz-funk idiom even further with this timeless ballad written by the pensive Mark King, Phil Gould and Wally Badarou. In case you wondering, that unforgettable piano riff was created by Badarou. It had also been a supreme synth outing for Mike Lindup that had certainly contributed to this landmark 80’s track. In fact, Level 42 was voted best British group for three years running in Blues & Soul magazine. The readership had also rated Mark King as the best bassist in the world! The mid 80’s also marked the band’s development into a major stadium filler. Mark King is after all a tour de force – http://www.bubblews.com/news/389556-leaving-me-now-by-level-42-is-simply-surreal-pop
