3 April 1983: After completing a 29 date UK tour, U2 appeared on BBC TV’s “Top Of The Pops” performing their latest single “Two Hearts Beat As One”. It was the seventh track on the War album and released as a second single in the US, UK and Australia. The track features a propulsive bassline by Adam Clayton achieving moderate success in the UK. The song was inspired by the quote “Two hearts that beat as one” from the 19th century play, Ingomar the Barbarian.
