1 May 1980: The Apartheid government of South Africa banned Pink Floyd’s single “Another Brick In The Wall” after black youth embraced the song as their anthem in their struggle against the inferior, Bantu, education.
The album was released in 1979 and the title was one of the songs set to variation of the same theme. It also became the last UK #1 hit in 70’s.
Even after many political transitions, South Africa, however, is the most unequal, in economic terms, nation in the world.
