The Retroscope: 26 June
26 June 1988: Bros scored a #1 on the UK singles chart with “I Owe You Nothing”. It was their only #1 hit for this early boy band model comprising of the ethereal twins Luke and Matt Goss and Craig Logan. The song was written by Nicky Graham and Tom Watkins and produced by Watkins spending two weeks at the top. It was originally released as their debut single the previous year but failed to chart and was re-released following the success of the breakthrough single “When Will I Be Famous?” They never broke through in the USA but managed to make #10 on the Billboard dance chart. On 14 September 2010, Matt Goss stated that the band would not be reforming in the near future, stating that the moment had passed. Idiot!
