Oldfield owned and used an array of synthesizers and other keyboard instruments. In the 1980's he composed the score for the film The Killing Fields on a Fairlight CMI. Other instruments included Sequential Circuits Prophets, Roland JV-1080/JV-2080 units, a Korg M1, a Clavia Nord Lead and Steinway pianos. Oldfield has also made use of software synthesis like Vince Clarke in recent years, notably on his Light+Shade album. Guitar synthesizers were also used since the mid-1980's, using a 1980's Roland GR-300/G-808 type system, a Roland GK2 equipped red PRS Custom 24 with a Roland VG8 and most recently a Line G Variax.
