19 March 1982: Mike Oldfield,releases his seventh studio album,"Five miles out". It is one of the few albums which Oldfield sings lead vocals. The album peaked at #7 in the UK and spawned two singles "Five miles out" and "Family Man".
19 March 1983: The entry date of the best selling 12 inch single of all time which peaked at number 8 and was in and out of the Top 100 for 5 years. This is, of course, New Order's Blue Monday.
19 March 1984: Cindi Lauper's "Girls just want to have fun" reaches the Australian Kent Music Report No 1 position. It waspreceded by "Love is a battlefield" by Pat Benatar and succeeded by "99 Luftballons" by Nena.
19 March 1985: The launch of "Spin Magazine".
19 March 1988: Michael Jackson begins construction on his 2800 acre ranch and private amusement park in Santa Barbara, named "Neverland" after a fantasy location in his favourite book, Peter Pan.
