1 June 1982: British Ska band “Madness” scored a #1 hit on the UK singles chart with “House of Fun”, their only #1 from 27 Top 40 hits. It spent nine weeks in the charts and was re-released in 1992, reaching a respectable #40.
1 June 1985: Prince & The Revolution started their three week run at #1 on the US album chart with “Around The World in a Day”. It was released on April 22, 1985 by Paisley Park Records with minimal publicity despite the album’s subsequent success.
