16 June 1984: Frankie Goes To Hollywood scored their second UK #1 single with “Two Tribes” and stayed there for nine weeks. They became the first band to have their first two singles go to the top of the UK charts and during that run their previous single “Relax” climbed back up the charts to #2. It became the longest running #1 single in the UK between 1978 and 1991. It was released at the height of the Cold War when fears of global war were at a peak.
